Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities

In the Durham Region, the functions formerly associated with the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities are now primarily managed by two distinct provincial entities: the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) and the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD). The MCU oversees the region’s post-secondary landscape, providing essential funding and policy direction for institutions such as Ontario Tech University, Durham College, and the Trent University Durham GTA campus in Oshawa. This includes administering the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) to help local students manage tuition costs. Meanwhile, the MLITSD operates a dedicated Apprenticeship Office in downtown Oshawa on Richmond Street West.
