Autism Home Base (AHB) is a social hub for Autistic adults & the people who love them. We work together to organize social & recreational activities, share resources, build friendships, and support family caregivers.
Autistic adults & their lifelong family caregivers can be particularly vulnerable to loneliness, isolation, & sedentary lives. After decades of trying to connect, many of our members had simply stopped leaving the house because of the fear of failing or not fitting in. AHB families work together to create opportunities to explore new interests in a supportive environment among peers. We celebrate what makes each of us unique. Here, foundations for supportive, lifelong friendships are built. Our families make meaningful connections with others who ‘get it’, because they live it too.
Our mission is to improve health & wellness by creating opportunities that inspire Autistic adults and their family caregivers to discover new interests and skills, develop social supports and to inspire understanding, acceptance and inclusive practices around them.
Accessibility remains a cornerstone of our model. For an annual family membership fee of just $100, members can participate in a wide range of programs throughout the year, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to connection and inclusion. Despite growing demand for our services, Autism Home Base receives no ongoing core government funding. We rely on grants, fundraising events, corporate sponsorships, community partnerships, and individual donations to sustain our work. Continued investment in AHB helps ensure that Autistic adults and their families have access to the relationships, supports, and opportunities they need to thrive.
