Pat Bayly Square

Pat Bayly Square is a vibrant public square and community hub located in downtown Ajax, in the Durham Region of Ontario, Canada. Named after Ajax’s first mayor, Pat Bayly, this urban civic space opened in 2018 and serves as a focal point for local gatherings, cultural events, and seasonal activities. The square features a central water feature that converts into a free outdoor ice skating rink in winter, landscaped seating areas, public art including a monument to honour World War II women war workers, and flexible space for markets, concerts, and celebrations. It plays a key role in the surrounding mixed-use Vision at Pat Bayly Square development, which integrates residential, retail, and office spaces to enliven the town’s downtown core.
