Profile
The Durham Field Hockey Club (DFHC), formerly known as “Chicks with Sticks,” is a long-standing recreational organization founded in 1997 to provide field hockey opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels in the Durham Region. The club is primarily based at the Oshawa Civic Recreation Complex, where it utilizes the outdoor artificial turf (Field 5) for its summer league running from June through August. DFHC offers a variety of programs, including a women’s recreational league, a junior development program for children aged 12 and under, and co-ed sessions designed to foster a “fun and play hard” atmosphere without the pressure of high-stakes competition. During the winter months (October to April), the club transitions to indoor play, historically hosting sessions at the Kingsway College Auditorium in Oshawa to ensure year-round engagement for the local field hockey community.
