Profile
Parkwood National Historic Site in the Durham Region of Ontario is a beautifully preserved historic estate and museum in Oshawa. Built between 1915 and 1917, the grand Beaux‑Arts mansion was the family home of auto industrialist Colonel R.S. McLaughlin, founder of General Motors of Canada. The 55‑room, 15,000 sq ft residence and its formal gardens showcase early 20th‑century design, original furnishings, artwork, and landscape architecture. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1989, Parkwood offers visitors a rare glimpse into Canadian heritage, lifestyle, and history through tours, exhibits, and its scenic grounds.
