Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation Public Works Building

The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) Public Works Building, located at 22602 Island Road in Port Perry, serves as the operational hub for the community’s essential infrastructure and maintenance services. The department is responsible for a wide array of critical tasks, including road maintenance, water and wastewater management, snow removal, and the upkeep of community facilities and residential homes. A major milestone for the department was the 2020 completion of a new communal water treatment system, which successfully ended long-term boil-water advisories that had affected the community for over a decade. Additionally, the Public Works team manages a 20-year service agreement with the Township of Scugog to ensure high standards for local emergency services and road safety, reflecting the First Nation’s role as a key institutional partner within the broader Durham Region.
