Profile
Teledale Farms is a third-generation dairy operation located in Sunderland (Brock Township), recognized as a modern leader in the Durham Region’s agricultural landscape. Since its purchase by the Smith family in 1958, the farm has evolved from a small 20-cow herd milked by hand to a high-tech facility milking over 100 cows using advanced robotic milking systems. Now certified as a “grass-fed” producer, Teledale is a frequent highlight of the annual Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival, where it opens its doors for bus tours that allow the public to witness firsthand the integration of robotics in dairy farming. The farm is also a notable stop on the Durham Barn Quilt Trail, featuring a distinct sunflower-themed quilt—the “Pinedale Patch”—which symbolizes the family’s newer ventures into agritourism, including their popular seasonal sunflower trail and pumpkin patch.
