Profile
The Brooklin Community Centre and Library (BCCL) is a modern, 41,000-square-foot multi-use facility located at 8 Vipond Road in the historic village of Brooklin, within the Town of Whitby. Opened in 2010, the center’s award-winning architecture features a “linked barn” design inspired by the region’s agrarian roots, seamlessly integrating a library, a gymnasium, and dedicated community spaces. As a central hub for the Durham Region, it provides a diverse range of amenities, including a 55+ activity room, a youth center with recreational games, pre-school program spaces, and multiple banquet and meeting rooms available for public rental. The facility is celebrated for its commitment to sustainability—preserving the surrounding hardwood forest and using natural light—making it a vibrant gathering spot for residents of all ages to engage in educational, social, and physical activities.
